Getting The Most Out Of Meta-Tags

Writing meta-tags

The title, keywords and description meta-tags are vitally important to your search engine optimisation success, but will only work if they are written properly. Every page on your site must have its own meta-tags, each written to reflect the page it is describing.

Generating generic meta-tags for all the pages on your site will not help the search engines at all, and will often get your pages penalised. Search Engine users will not be able to tell what your pages are about, either, and they'll visit your competitors' sites instead.

Your meta-tags must be keyword rich, but be very careful not to spam the search engines. You need to make sure that your meta-tags accurately describe the content of the page, without using keywords that do not appear in the content.

This job can be extremely arduous and time consuming, as we at CornishWeb well know. To make our lives easier, we've created a product we call Rapid Meta-Tags, which will do all the hard work of creating meta-tags for you. Rapid Meta-Tags will analyse the content of your pages, and make suggestions for the title, keywords and description mate-tags based on the content it finds. You can even tell it to ignore the template parts of your pages, so that only the unique content of each page is analysed.
